Weston Ukulele Players

The Weston Ukelele Players received an award from the outgoing Mayor in recognition of their contribution to the town and the £9,200 they donated to the Children’s Hospice South West in Wraxall. They play at numerous clubs, societies, hotels and other venues throughout North Somerset.
On Sunday 23rd June, at 2:00pm, they are making a rare public appearance to help raise funds for the Birnbeck Pier Regeneration Trust.

The Weston-super-Mare local Macular group covering Weston, Clevedon, Winscombe and surrounding areas meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month 10:30am to 12:30pm at St Peter’s Church Church Hall, Baytree Road, Weston-super-Mare BS22 8HG. The meetings are for anyone affected by central vision loss, AMD wet or dry. Come to share experiences with others. Swap tips and strategies. There are talks by professionals offering advice on appliances to help, useful organisations such as Vision North Somerset. Friends and carers most welcome. Cost £3.

Weston-s-Mare & District Family History Society present a talk by Jim Pimpernell about the Agricultural Revolution 1700-1850 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Hall, Baytree Rd, on 12th June at 2:30pm. This will be followed by a Family History and DNA question and answer session. Members £1.50 non members £2.00 which includes Tea/Coffee and biscuits.

We also offer free family history advice on the first Saturday of every month 2:00pm – 3:30pm at Weston Library so come along with your questions.

Worle History Society.
Thursday 6th June, Worle at War – 80th Anniversary of D-Day.

The War Memorial will be open from 10:30am to 4:00pm.Leaflets will be available to guide you to the grave of the Jones family who were killed on Tuesday 3 September 1940 at Devonia Cottage. The Worle Community Centre in Lawrence Road will be open from 2:00pm to 9.00pm with information boards, archive files and photographs and a talk starting at 7:00pm.

You will be sure of a warm welcome at our Saturday coffee morning in our old and beautiful Church hall in the centre of town – Emmanuel Church, Oxford Street, held on the first Saturday of the month – the next one on 1st June.
People of all ages and walks of life can come together for a meet-up of friends and to make new friends from 10:30am until 12:00 noon.
